Australian soccer is in turmoil, the crowds are growing rapidly, the number of juniors is booming and the TV viewership is at an all time high. Then how do you say the sport is in crisis? .

The 2012 NRL season kicks off tonight with a mouth watering clash between Wayne Bennett's Newcastle Knights and his former club, the St. George-Illawarra Dragons. The NRL will be delighted with the attention this game is likely to garner with expectation almost at a fever pitch for what is sure to be an explosive opening 80 minutes of football.

    Liverpool have won the Carling Cup after a dramatic Penalty Shootout against Cardiff at Wembley on Sunday. Liverpool went into the showpiece as firm favourites however didn't have it all there own way as Cardiff had plenty of chances. Liverpool had most of the possession though and should have well and truly won the game if only for wasteful finishing. In the end, Liverpool held their nerve to kick start Dalglishe's career as Liverpool Manager.

    Australian cricket team captain Michael Clarke was awarded the Allan Border Medal along with the Test Player of the Year trophy as the nation\'s top cricketer last night in Melbourne after a stunning year of performances with the bat including his 300 in Sydney.
