Villa played poorly and City should have scored more before having to settle for a 1-0 win in the Midlands. City are now 2 points clear at the top to ensure a dramatic finish later in the year.
In other Premier League matches Everton shocked Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison, whilst Henry scored a late winner away at Sunderland in his last appearance for the club. West Brom smashed neibours Wolves 5-1 after a hat trick from Odemwingie. Blackburn won a dramatic 6 pointer over fellow strugglers QPR whilst Wigan won the north Manchester derby over Bolton 2-1.
Tottenham were on fire at White Hart Lane with a thumping 5-0 win over Newcastle. Saha scored a brace as Spurs ran away with a 3 goal lead inside 20 minutes. Norwich won a crucial match away in Wales winning 3-2 and Fulham got a much needed win as they beat Stoke 2-1.
