Liverpool Win First Silverwhere of Season!

Liverpool have won the Carling Cup after a dramatic Penalty Shootout against Cardiff at Wembley on Sunday. Liverpool went into the showpiece as firm favourites however didn't have it all there own way as Cardiff had plenty of chances. Liverpool had most of the possession though and should have well and truly won the game if only for wasteful finishing. In the end, Liverpool held their nerve to kick start Dalglishe's career as Liverpool Manager.

In the Premier League, Manchester United scrambled to a 2-1 win over Norwich away from home. Norwich has become a tough place to visit and United found that out from the start however were too strong in the end as class told a story to keep United within touching distance of Leaders City. Manchester City won on Saturday convincingly, with a 3-0 cruise over Blackburn to remain 2 points clear of United.

In the Super Sunday match, Arsenal came from behind to beat Spurs in a massive game for both clubs. The derby could have gone either way as the match was played at a blistering speed. The gunners in the end put 5 past Spurs in a 5-2 win.

Other Saturday fixtures saw Villa and Wigan play out a scoreless draw, Stoke won 2-0 at home to Swansea whilst Chelsea swept aside Bolton 3-0 at the bridge. West Brom smashed 4 past Sunderland and Fulham won away 1-0 in the other London derby. Newcastle and Wolves played out a 2-2 draw.
