Go on…'Dream bigger'

In my early years I found myself reading the biographies of missionaries past. Over and over again as I read the pages of their inner nudges, steps in faith, acts of courageous love, struggles met by a God who did far more then they could ask or imagine, the bar was raised of my expectation of how God is involved in our lives. This led me to dream bigger and enter into my own story to taste and see that God is indeed good. .

  • Living in a feminist society

It is difficult to think of an element of society or our lives that has not been affected by feminism. Since the feminist movements in the 60's everything has changed: the family, the workforce, our laws, social etiquette, medical practices, creative arts and even the names people take and the games children play. And that is just the beginning.

  • The age of assumption

In the portfolio of things I do to keep busy, I work with the NZ office of a busy mission organisation. I'm responsible for keeping a steady stream of prayer communications coming out of the field and into the hands/mouths/prayers of a group of faithful pray-ers.

    I'm a worry. Seriously.

  • Sisters in Christ, partners in mission

If recorded missionary history were a play, women begin the first act as small and insignificant characters. With the spotlight focused on strong male leads and heroic battles of faith, one could easily have assumed the only role for a woman to play is a 'bit part' in the big picture. As the show unfolds, the playwright reveals his true intentions. When we look back we see a rich legacy of women who have served faithfully - no matter the role in which they were cast.

  • Instant messaging God

The world says that laughter is the best medicine but they are wrong, praying is. Praying is peaceful, intimate and exciting all at the same time. It doesn't necessarily need to be done at church, with candles or your legs crossed- you can pray anytime, anywhere and in many different ways. I wish I'd known earlier that there is no set rhythm or rhyme to prayer and talking with God, this would have saved many embarrassing childhood moments.

  • Spurs score late to draw United!

Manchester United lost their 7 point gap at the top of the league, after a disappointing 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane. Spurs scored in the last minute of injury time to salvage a point however did control most of the 2nd period and were very unlucky not to equalize earlier. • Boredom, the curse of today - Best of 2012

I think many suffer today from an insatiable appetite for entertainment as we look to a pursuit of pleasure. In our over sexed and over stimulated society, slick advertising is only getting slicker to try capture our fleeting attention and headline grabbing highlight reels reduce content into bite sized 30 second grabs.
