Reggae Inception - placing an idea in our minds without our permission

So there I was! I was lying in bed at about 2pm – as any good musician on holidays does – when I overheard (was eavesdropping on) a conversation going on with a family friend and my sister in the kitchen. .

  • Livingston in Living Colour

Expecting the story of a stalwart missionary, triumphing in the face of adversity, spreading the gospel in uncharted and hostile territory, I picked up a copy of David Livingstone\'s biography `Livingstone` by Tim Jeal, and started reading. What I found by the end of the book was a story of suffering, ambition and failure of a man coming to grips with his fleshly nature.

  • Watoto Mission Trip to Uganda

Have you ever had a major turning point in your Christian life? After years of living as a 'lukewarm' Christian, I arrived at the major turning point in 2007. It was my Watoto mission trip to Uganda.

  • Christ's letters still relevant after 2000 years

The year has started again and with it comes opportunities to find new areas for our faith to grow. Our Young Adults Cell Group has restarted for the year and we are currently reviewing the book of Revelation. In just the last two weeks we have had many "wow" moments.

  • The night my train was Held up

Little did I know, sitting in our stationary train, two kilometres further down the train line, a teenaged boy had just lost his life.

  • Europe in crisis – how did it happen

During the Christmas break, I was lucky enough to spend 5 weeks in Europe. My family and I were delighted to see our relatives and friends as we enjoyed the mildest European Christmas in over 20 years.

  • Difficulty Selling The Essential

The other night I went to a bar. It was a fairly new place with a crowd of young adults talking over well-crafted spirits, around bar stools and brick archways. The staff were busy serving an extensive range of drinks in an efficent and accomodating way. Through the dense revelry I noticed a friend I hadn't seen for a few months and I went over to say hi. We sat and talked in the middle of the bar and at one point we wondered out loud "what is it that makes this bar so appealing?"

  • Ethical living, Bible College and Beyond

Last week we were walking through Melbourne. Attired with scarfs and beanies on a cold (okay lets say freezing) February day we came across a bunch of people camping out on the lawn of the Town Square. They told us that 1% of the world has 99% of the world's wealth.

  • Neither silent nor yelling: Dealing with the world on equal terms

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16 ESV)

  • In God we trust - Why is it so difficult ?

Trust. It\'s a big word isn\'t it? In today\'s society, this word is often seen as dangerous ground. Hardly any independent person cherishes the idea of placing their confidence, their reliance, or their faith in another human being whom they know is just as fallible as they are. So when it comes to us, as believers, how willing are we to place our confidence in One who is omniscient, omnipresent, and perfect?
