Crisis of Faith
I haven't really had a crisis in MY faith. I am not even sure it's the right word to use. The last 6-9 months my faith was bombarded and challenged. My journey from Alice Springs via Adelaide, Melbourne, Dubbo, Newcastle and Tweed Heads to the Sunshine Coast (5500km!) itself caused a crisis of faith. .

Carbon Tax. Who is the hardest hit?
Earlier this month, I investigated the effect of carbon tax on average Australians and compensation plans by the Government. (http://au.christiantoday.com/article/carbon-tax-what-is-the-effect-on-australians/13641.htm). To summarise, in April, Climate Change Minister Greg Combet said, \"…the lowest-income four million households will receive assistance in excess of the expected price impact from the carbon price coming in, and nine out of 10 households will receive assistance through tax cuts or

Is God really that mean?
Has anyone ever asked you about the God of the Old Testament? About why He seems like such an angry, mean god. It can sometimes be hard to try and explain this concept to people, especially those who haven't actually read the whole bible. When we only look at half of the story, it can be difficult to give a clear answer to such questions.

Running God's Race
When my sister and I were growing up, we loved to play dress ups and role play. Some of my sister's favourite scenarios revolved around adulthood either a wedding ceremony (I always had to play the groom), setting up house or playing mother. My sister loved to fashion the perfect family, with her as the mother and a million disfigured Barbie dolls and mutated Baby Born's as her children. I on the other hand completely detested these games. Instead I liked to role play scenarios usually involving

Never too late to be used by God
In May last year I wrote about the wonderful little mission of Danny and Terri Maher: the Christian Tract Outreach and it was nigh time I once again bought them to your attention. These is an elderly husband and wife, and what they do has been funded almost entirely by the small senior's pension both of them receive.

Pornography: harmless fun, no one gets hurt?
\"The poll results indicate that 50% of all Christian men and 20% of all Christian women are addicted to pornography,\" said Clay Jones, founder and President of Second Glance Ministries (christiannews.christianet.com). If the statistics are right, I think it is time that we had a good look at what we are watching and what is truly discipling us. Lust and pornography is not just a male issue, it is a worldwid

Eight Virtues of Godly Wisdom
Do you know the qualities of true wisdom? How do you know whether someone is truly wise? How can we become wiser? Some would say with age comes wisdom, but that's only half the truth. The Bible mentions at least three times that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 111 verse 10, Proverbs 1 verse 7 and Proverbs 9 verse 10). But it's only the beginning. So where do we go from there? In this article, we will examine eight virtues of Godly wisdom.

A story behind every book
Tucked away in a corner of Penrith's main street is a second hand book shop. I love these kinds of stores, you never know what you are going to find, an old classic or a book you hardly ever see in mainstream stores.

The brand new old
There's been a shift in the hospitality scene lately. The aftereffects of the new licensing laws brought into Sydney five years ago has been a wave of small bars flowing through every back street they can reach. Just in the past few months the figures are that more than 40 small bars have had official openings. The shift goes back further, however, back into our psychology. Possibly off the back of the recent, tumultuous, world events, we have gone underground in our focuses. Our attention could

Breastfeeding a Toddler: the football, to Church and Beyond
I'm talking about breastfeeding, again. Why, you may ask? Why not discuss the latest State of Origin? Well, I'm writing this, whilst watching the Origin and breastfeeding. And quite frankly I'm more successful at breastfeeding (she's nodding off) than watching the TV screen.

Passionate Children
Recently I have taken to reading articles and watching documentaries about world issues. Seeing documentaries on the living conditions in Liberia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo has made me remember ideas for inventions that I had in my younger days for access to clean water. In short, doing these things has reminded me of the passion that I had for social equality and fairness in my youth.
