Is Guilt from God?
The other day I got my hair cut. I didn't spend 23 dollars at the local Just Cuts, but my girlfriend gave it a good trim. She's quite good with a pair of scissors, but I wasn't so good at remembering to wrap a towel around my neck to save the hair from trickling down my back. .

Living in a corrupt society
Society has become so corrupt. We are constantly bombarded with movies, music, adverts, books and magazines that contain sexually explicit and profane language. Advertisements with such slogans as "Because you're worth it" or "You deserve it" give me the impression that we are becoming even more self-centred. We live in such an image focused society that it is no longer taboo to have plastic surgery. Who would have thought that breast augmentation would become a graduation or even a birthday pre

Owning your Brokenness
All I wanted from 2013 was a fresh start. Last year was a bit of an odd year. I have never been so aware of just how many crappy things happen in this world – not just on TV, but in my life and in the lives of those close to me. There was no relief, it was just one miserable thing after another. I just kept telling myself that all I needed to do was survive until New Years, then the moment my clock ticked over all would be right in the world.

Dealing with day by day annoyances
There are so many misadventures happen each day in our lives in this fast-paced society. We read how people get stressed from daily work and life, and a major reason why so many believe they are front and centre in misfortunes.

Is same-sex marriage really about love?
Today same-sex marriage is a hot potato in several countries around the world. The New Zealand Parliament last week passed legislation approving same sex marriage. Christians are being told that they are backwards, judgemental and intolerant for not supporting it.

Should we send our children to school? OR - Who do you want your child to most look like at the end of their schooling?
Why are so many Christian children leaving their faith and not embracing it. Is it that Jesus is irrelevant for our time or is there something else? Recently, I attended a conference and I was challenged by Voddie Baucham who reminded us that Luke 6 verse 40 says "the student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher."

What is love?
In my undergrad I took an English course called 'Romantic Fictions'. For a couple of hours a week I would sit in a group of girls, with one other guy, talking about the way that different texts made us feel (I'm sure there was also some textual analysis, but the story sounds better this way).

Several proposals and a life lesson later
It was the most romantic and endearing question I had ever been asked. Life changing. There were no flowers, no ring, but the sheer determination to declare his love was enough to sweep me off my feet. I had just finished teaching when the unforgettable happened. In a sweet and sincere voice the words "Chloe… will you be my wife… " were spoken. I looked down to find my prince.

Grief in the Christian Journey
In the days that follow bereavement many platitudes are offered. A common one I hear, and sometimes say to myself is, 'at least we have hope'. I've heard it said that grieving is different for Christians; less debilitating, less traumatic. No need to worry, heaven is beckoning and we'll soon be united forever.

This is the world that we live in
"This is the world that we live in" is a line from a song by Las Vegas' own rock band, The Killers. This particular lyric could be thought of in relation to many areas of our lives. People could use that term in regards to society, and the many situations we face every day. Today, I'd like to think of that lyric in regards to nature and the environment.
