On Ends...

Everyday I go skating, well almost. My skateboard is one of the main ways I get around, its my \"A to B\". I love starting the day by skating to work if I am working within skating distance, mind you pretty much anywhere in Auckland is skating distance if you have enough time. When I have the time I love to skate on half pipes and bowls. If you have seen the movie called \'Lords of Dogtown\', or skate yourself, you might know what I am talking about. .

  • Meaningless religion

The exile of the Jews was a dark and tragic period in their History, and for years they held days of fasting to mourn and weep over the events that had brought it about. When they returned to Jerusalem however, the people of Bethel asked the Prophet Zechariah to ask God whether they should continue their observance. The answer that God gives is startling, addressing a very different issue.

  • Why Nike says "Just Do It

Her teeth dripped with blood. Her eyes glinted in the sun as she sat, mouth slightly ajar, waiting.

  • A new Shalom

In a society of privatised religion and personal conviction, Christ\'s death and resurrection is in danger of being reduced to an act of personal atonement. In my view while the notion of personal atonement is certainly not false, limiting Christ\'s sacrifice to this alone denies the transformational act of justice that Jesus performed.

  • I'm always right.

It was one of those crisp and glorious winter days. You know the kind of day, when the taste of renewal is fresh on the lips, when the sun's warmth pulsates through your body, heating you to your bones, making the dust pirouette in the luminosity like glitter. The kind of day that you touch and it changes all that you know.

  • Are you In or Out?

It seems to me that controversy, conflict and debate grab people's attention in the Christian world, as much as the secular. "Did God really create the world in seven literal days?" The media jumped all over Pope Francis when he was recently quoted to say, "Who am I to judge gays." And here is where I insert one of the many headlines about how Israel has treated the Palestinians unfairly.

  • Faith in freedom

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! This verse serves as a declaration of the freedom that is ours because of what Christ accomplished: Christ has set us free! In Paul's letter to the Galatians, he does not appeal to his readers to fight to be free. Our freedom is not the result of our hard fought battle. We have not liberated ourselves by our own efforts – it isn't possible to do that. But now that Christ has given us our freedom, it is our responsibility to live in that freedom.

  • Living on the Fault Line

It was nerve-wreaking to experience a magnitude 6.5 earthquake a few weeks ago. I remember walking toward an outdoor car park, and the road around me suddenly trembled like roaring sea waves. It was like standing on a wobble board. Never before have I felt such a big earthquake that shakes everything around me so vividly, engaging all my senses.

  • I don't want to be racist, but…

I was always the girl that wanted to stay home and live under the protective wings of Mummy and Daddy as long as possible. Despite my best intentions to leech off them for the rest of my life, my time in high school gradually fostered a need to try something new and by the time it came to leave I was suddenly filled with a desire to get as far away as possible.

  • AFL: the failed expansion and the Drug Crises

What once was the powerhouse of the Australian Sporting landscape, the Australian Football League is in deep crises. A number of internal and external environmental factors have placed the AFL's commanding presence in the Australian Sporting Penthouse under serious jeopardy.

  • Would you break the law for your job?

We all have those moments when we are faced with a decision of what should I do? Should I say anything, should I pretend I didn't notice and keep things going at status quo? What will happen to me if I do say something or bring this to the attention of someone? It is illegal but everyone else does it.

  • Love is everywhere, if we opened our hearts

One of my friends said to me that he never watches news. The reason is simple, he doesn't like to hear so many negative things.
