Keeping the marriage strong

Keeping the marriage strong

When my husband and I were married in November 2012, as part of our wedding ceremony, we wrote our own wedding vows to each other in a letter but sealed it in a glass bottle representing a time capsule that will only be opened on our 10th year wedding anniversary. .

  • Time with God

I have the fortunate experience of starting work at the early hour of 6:30am (wow a Gen-Y up before midday!)

  • Déjà vu

In each of us lies a longing. A deep longing that most of us often don\'t realise we have.

  • Mindfulness

I have recently become quite interested in the concept of mindfulness.

  • The Spiritual Life: my parenting, theology and body

Stars. Rain drops. Flowers. Sunrises. Fairy's. Dolphins. Mud. Spider webs. Sand dunes. Mangroves.

  • A dad's perspective on… exercise

Goal: latte at bayside café. When: An early Autumn Saturday morning with blue skies but still a crisp feel to the air. Mode: Energetic athletic dad running from town-house, down alleyway, along waterfront footpath pushing restful daughter in three wheel pram.

  • 'I miss you' is not 'I love you'

I was recently watching "The Conversation" with Amanda de Cadenat, an alternate interview series in which the host, Miss de Cadenat, 'interviews' celebrities through a simple conversation, usually on their own couches in their own homes.

  • Every thread counts

When I fell pregnant with my first baby, I wanted to give her a gift. I chose a very cute teddy bear cross-stitch pattern, bought the required threads, needles and accessories and began to stitch. By the end of my pregnancy, I had finished my project. What began as a few threads of tiny coloured crosses on my fabric, ended up to be just as the picture on the front of the pattern revealed. I proudly hung it in a timber frame above the cot that was awaiting the arrival of my baby girl.

  • Be creative, be involved

So, you're "a creative", what ever that may be, an artist of some media, be it light or sound, taste or word, perhaps numbers. Perhaps a combination there of many disciplines or something I haven't heard of even. What purpose do talents serve? Maybe it's just a hobby or perhaps you support yourself with the work you do, either way creation generally is, and can be used, as a form of communication.

  • Does a guy dying on a cross 2000 years ago matter?

I recently asked one of my classes at school this very question. It wasn't just to fill in some time on the last day. I was interested in what they had to say. If the truth be told, I have been contemplating this question myself lately as we head into the Easter weekend.

  • Losing control

Have you ever tried to control other people around you? Perhaps there is someone's behaviour you actively seek to alter, attempt to change how they respond to you or others, or even try to affect how they live their life. It may range from controlling what they wear, commenting on the little quirks in their speech, the way they interact with others, who they are or aren't allowed to socialise with, to what time they come home. The list goes on.

  • Third World T20 Title for Australian women's cricket

The Australian Women's Cricket Team has cemented itself as one of the great national teams winning their third straight T20 World Championships against England in Bangladesh.
