Appreciating creation: Sleep

Appreciating creation: Sleep

Sleep is a required part of all our lives however for something so important, it would appear that we know very little about it. I decided to investigate and the following are some interesting facts on the subject which may even help us all sleep more easily at night..

  • Dressed for success

I don\'t normally drive in my pyjamas. In fact, it was the first time I\'d ever done it. Apparently for some of my friends it\'s a regular occurrence, but dropping my teenage daughter off at 6.15am for school camp in my pyjamas was not what I had in mind.

  • Peer pressure versus family values.

Last week my 11-year old, Tillara, had a sleepover for her birthday. Just an ordinary event for kids this age.

  • 7 days that divide the world

The beginning of the Bible tells the story of arguably the seven most important days in the history of the universe. Many believe that it was through these seven days that the universe was brought into existence by God. But what is the nature of these seven days?

  • Around the cable bends

Audio cable repairing is something I have spent a lot of time doing over the past four or so years. Over this time my soldering skills have improved dramatically from all the practice.

  • A Christian concept of death

It could be safely said that most of us fear death, and the thought of death dominates certain important and tragic parts of our lives. It can be easy to be overwhelmed, filled with fear, and almost inexpressible anger when death occurs around us.

  • Christian art

I suppose my earliest thoughts on the topic of Christian art begin with a music festival. When I was fifteen the Christian music festival Parachute was in its heyday. When you're young there is an added thrill attending music festivals, but you don't normally know any better music when you're brought up in a Christianese fish bowl.

  • Build a better you today! (Part B: Where fitness & faith collide)

Are you wondering what happened to your health kick? You had been going strong for 2 maybe 3 weeks, got off to a good start and suddenly hit a wall?

  • Units of Unity, China and the Church

Unity undoubtedly underpinned the dynasties, kingdoms and empires of China throughout the last several thousand years. According to both their own histories and many of the modern explorations, when they succeeded in fostering it, China was powerful and the ruling groups were viewed as legitimate authority.

  • Discussing the deeper questions; how do we do it?

How much do you know about what your friends think? What they really really think? Not just about the latest Coldplay album (meh), where you can get the best latte (Melbourne, clearly) and how hilarious that last episode of the Bachelor was (greatly).

  • I believe

[Disclaimer: Short History lesson... but keep reading] Most biblical scholars agree that the Apostles' Creed was developed sometime between the second and ninth centuries, and most likely, came into fullest form around 700 AD. This creed was used to summarise the Christian doctrine and was used as a baptismal confession in the churches of Rome.

  • City 2 Surf

Australia's greatest fun run, the Sun-Herald City 2 Surf, completed another stunning chapter with over 80 000 competitors.
