Respawn Entertainment's upcoming Titanfall 2 multiplayer beta version will not be available for PCs. Instead, the game will be exclusive to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Respawn CEO Vince Zampella wrote a blog post saying that the studio is conducting the beta to test company's servers and confirm that they can advance as planned. In actuality, the game studio needs just one platform for the test as their server backend is per platform.
Zampella said, "Additional platforms can be a good sanity test, but the developers do not need to test the beta on all the platforms to make sure that the game is on a good trail for launch".
The Titanfall 2 beta, which is also called the "multiplayer tech test" will not be rolled out for PC for two major reasons: hardware diversity and optimisation for minimum specification machines.
Zampella explained, "the developers are still introducing lots of changes and tweaks in the game, that is why the game has not been run through the hardware compatibility division as of now to find and handle a massive diversity of hardware including CPUs, video cards, etc."
"To be frank, the team is not ready to deal with so many platforms yet, as the game developers are still improving the game."
The CEO also stated that the company has not done adequate labour to completely back the Titanfall 2 on lower-specification arrangements. "So, at present, the PC variant is not really easy to proceed for the tests as the console is, due to the added variables and settings that the company needs to support," he said.
So far, Titanfall 2 beta's initial date of release has not been declared. However, Titanfall 2 is set to roll out on October 28 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
