God, who has no gender, created the genders of male and female long ago. For many years, the framework of two genders have served us perfectly well. But there are now people who want to create a distinction between biological sex and gender.
The cultural powerhouse, the USA, have led the charge in this new gender ideology despite resistance from Republicans. In Australia, we are greatly influenced by the American culture. We love their TV shows, we love their sports, in addition, we are influenced by their politics. Following in their footsteps, the LGBTQ agenda has crept into the minds of Australians and into our parliament. Sadly, bills have been passed that has criminalised praying for a LGBTQ person even if they’ve requested it. It’s even called abuse if a parent doesn’t affirm a child’s felt identity.
Maybe it seems innocuous to you, but we have to be aware of the potential dangers this agenda can cause. Especially for children.
Confusion
The LGBTQ agenda is rife with confusion. Take notice of the name, more specifically the first three letters.
The lesbian, gay, and bisexual people all recognise gender as binary. A lesbian recognises herself as a girl who is attracted to the same sex. Gay people are men attracted to men. Bisexual people recognise themselves as one sex who is attracted to the opposite.
But now consider the thinking of the transgender person. Their concept of gender is more fluid. They feel they could be trapped in the wrong body. They feel its totally acceptable to change your gender.
Finally consider a person identifying as non-binary. This person doesn’t feel the concept of gender is particularly useful. They don’t feel it applies to them.
So here we have three difference conceptions of gender in the same LGBTQ movement. Did you notice see the competing views? It’s as if a communist, socialist and capitalist all came under the same banner.
How is a person supposed to ward off confusion here? What if you are a child who is already confused on who they are, now you have the added toll of figuring out gender from three different definitions.
If this child wonders what a woman is, for example, from three different crowds they will get three different answers.
How can something be true if it is so capricious in nature? How can something be resolutely true if it shifts intermittently in accordance with somebody’s feelings? How can it be true that a rose is red but at the same time a rose is blue, and yet still colour doesn’t really matter it’s just a social construct.
Personal Attacks
With this rhetoric am I trying to deny the personhood of some? No, of course not. I don’t want to undermine what a person is going through. Gender Dysphoria is a real issue. And people suffering with it are at an increased risk of suicide. This is a saddening reality because a person would only take their own lives after extreme and sustained emotional pain.
They are rejected for who they are, causing acute mental anguish, leading to suicide. But hold that thought. Are we really rejecting them for who they are? I would challenge that notion.
From the Christian worldview, we reject their sexual behaviour outside of covenant of male and female, we affirm binary gender theory.
We are not rejecting who they are because your sexual behaviour is not who you are. Your gender theory doesn’t comprise your identity. Sadly, often times there is a breakdown in communication. The LGBTQ persons often interpret the fight for truth as a militant, personal, vehement attack. It is not a personal attack; it is an assault on mistruth/anti-truth.
For Truth
Despite the imminent threat that we will offend individuals, the truth should still be upheld. And the confusing LGBTQ agenda still should be rallied against. Changing genders, loosening sexual boundaries is not the emotional saviour it promises to be. Gender reassignment, puberty blockers are pseudo-solutions. The only answer is in Genesis. The only balm is the binary truth that God created both male and female in his image.
