I'm not sure at what time you're reading this, but depending on the time of day, you may be feeling a little extra hungry—I apologise.
But that's the point. I like my steak in the morning! Energy for the whole day, pure revitalisation. There is nothing better than digesting a slab of steak first thing when you wake up.
"Why not some salad you ask?"
"I'm not one for salad," I say, "I like my steak!"
The thing is salad just doesn't fill me up: I go hungry. No matter how much I eat of it. Eventually I need some solid food to satisfy.
Sink your teeth in
Now I'm obviously not talking about food here... Sorry if you thought I was (I know it's a nice topic). What I'm trying to say is we really need to sink our teeth into something solid when we have our quiet times.
If you're not sure what I mean when I say quiet times, I mean one on one time with God reading the Bible, praying and listening to what he has to say to us. And when we have these quiet times, we need to make sure we aren't being distracted by the world around us, so avoid screens or phones in general!
Priorities
Why is this last point so important? One of the issues we have as Christians is we are placed in the "with everyone" world, though we aren't supposed to be or act like them. We need to make sure we live out a proper Christian lifestyle and focus on serving God as our first priority.
At the start of 1 Corinthians chapter 3, Paul addresses the Church and says:
"I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it" ... "You are still worldly."
It is when we are really dedicated to doing what God wants us to do, not serving our own desires that we shift from needing milk, to solid food. And solid food satisfies!
That is why I like my steak; I need my solid food, otherwise I starve.
So as we go about living our day-to-day lives, set ourselves apart for what God wants us to do: seek the great purposes of God. Not sure of what this is? Seek it out.
God gives to those that seek more of Him; more of His mysteries and ways.
So make a change in your diet. Start shifting your focus to God's plans for you and desire this. It will really satisfy you.
I like my steak in the morning—when do you like yours?
