The soft bigotry of low expectations is to infantilise radical Muslims (in this case) to the level of children with no free will or social responsibility—while obviously upholding higher standards for everyone else, especially white people.
Attempts are made to legitimise their (radical Islamists or any group the left sympathises with) actions by suggesting they were provoked, to explain and partly justify their actions.
Even the father of the Orlando nightclub killer said his son was provoked when he saw two men kissing. But leftists seem to believe that violence is somehow an understandable result of so called "oppression", and so therefore excuse it or make allowances for it.
If that conclusion is too far, at the very least they shift the focus from condemning the perpetrator, to why some third party is mostly responsible instead. One prominent figure tweeted: "ISIS kills gays but Christians just drive them to commit suicide".
This trend of equivocating Christians and Muslims, and scapegoating Christians has been circulated after the massacre in Orlando. It shows how shocking and deep the hatred is, that many progressives have for their Christian heritage.
Blame shifting
Blame shifting, and inverted moral gymnastics are used to blame us, i.e. white Christian capitalists, so that their narrative of resisting the white Christian oppressor (patriarchy) still works. And they can continue protecting their so-called victims groups.
The need to protect Islam is a priority over defending all other minority groups. So many gay people are waking up to the fact that they are being used by the establishment to further the Marxist agenda, instead of any real motivation for the concern for the welfare of the gay and lesbian community.
Some gay people are probably feeling implicitly disposable when it comes to leftist appeasement of radical Islam, and hence are now arming themselves in America.
As it has once again become dangerous to be a Jew in France, so it is becoming dangerous to be gay in America. The worst modern Christians have ever done is disagree with their lifestyle, but radical Islam throws them off buildings.
The worst Jesus ever did to those who rejected his teaching was to symbolically dust off his sandals and leave them be. Mohammed slaughtered people who rejected his religion.
The courage to resist evil
We respect free will of people to accept or reject the gospel, and their decision does not alter the fact that they are endowed with infinite worth and value being God's special creation, so the onus is on Christians to treat all people with love (made in God's image), even those with whom we disagree.
This also requires courage to resist evil, in order to stop it spreading—and pacifying and appeasement doesn't work against Islam, it only emboldens. Extremists are cowards, they only recognise and respect strength. Failing to deal with the root cause of a sickness for fear of not offending, is cowardice in the guise of compassion.
Making astute moral judgements is not incompatible with showing compassion to those in need.
