The remarkable outcomes of the Online Ministry 'One Day in Melbourne' last April has prompted the 'One Afternoon in Sydney' for Saturday 13 August at the Salvation Army's Stanmore House, Stanmore.
Co-hosted by Rev Bob Thomas Editor New Life, John Sandeman editor of Eternity and Dr Mark Tronson a daily columnist with Christian Today.
'One Afternoon in Sydney is compacted into an afternoon rather than a full day as it is combined with the PSI - Press Service International young writer annual conference and awards.
As was One Day in Melbourne, there is no cost, the aim is to provide mission agency / society publication editors, Christian bloggers and those in those small Christian media outlets, a top of the line presentation without sending mission people into bankruptcy.
What we have is as follows:
9.30am – 12.30pm the PSI young writers conference focusing on issues specifically designed for them, then from 1.30pm to 4.00pm the designated One Afternoon in Sydney.
The earlier part of the day, the young writers section, has luminaries such as John Sandeman speaking, editor of Eternity (Bible Society) whose pedigree is visible as a former senior journalist over many years with Fairfax.

One Afternoon in Sydney
One Afternoon in Sydney, aimed to assist mission agency / society publication editors, Christian bloggers and those in small Christian media outlets, along with the young writers, is as was One Day in Melbourne, specific and focused.
Whereas One Day in Melbourne highlighted in a presentation format - Social Media, Marketing, Platforms, Design, Editing and Blogging, the Sydney version, One Afternoon in Sydney is talking a slightly different approach:
1.30pm: THIRD SESSION
Josh Reid—Faith and Media
Justin Monaghan—Creativity and Faith
2pm: PANEL DISCUSSION
Hosted by Sophia Sinclair
* Thomas Devenish - Hobart
· Justin Monaghan - Adelaide
· Tash McGill - Auckland
· Charis Jackson - Brisbane
· Josh Reid - Sydney
There will be more published on their CV's in the coming weeks.
3.30pm: Afternoon tea
4pm: Annual young writer awards
6pm: Closing address

Cost benefit
Costs are kept to a minimum as the young writer Awards (many are students), as in previous years, is held at 4.00pm rather than at an expensive 'wallet nightmare' gala dinner.
One Afternoon in Sydney delegates – mission agency / society editors, bloggers and the small Christian media outlets personnel are invited to stay on for the annual young writer awards.
These Basil Sellers Awards are adjudged by teams of Panellists who have read and marked the articles from January to July -
Australian young writers
New Zealand young writers
International young writers
Sport young writers
We invite Mission agency / society publication editors, Christian bloggers, small Christian media outlet personnel to be part of One Afternoon in Sydney – Evangelicals Online. Saturday 13 August, 1.30-4.00pm Salvation Army's Stanmore House, Stanmore. The RSVP is by Tuesday 9 August.
