It looks like Morgan Freeman may be joining Disney's upcoming live action movie "The Nutcracker." According to reports, the 79-year-old actor is in negotiations to play the mysterious Drosselmeyer.
'Interstellar' star, Mackenzie Foy is set to play Clara, while American Ballet theatre dancer Misty Copeland is playing the role of lead ballerina for the dance sequence.
'The Nutcracker' was originally a ballet by Tchaikovsky. Disney's venture will be the show's first live action movie. Unlike the ballet version, the film adaptation will hold just one dance sequence.
Drosselmeyer is Clara's mysterious magical godfather and the one who presents her the magical nutcracker.
The original 1816 story revolves around a girl who is spellbind by a toy "nutcracker", which comes alive and transports her to a dream world engaged in an epic battle between mice and dolls.
The Oscar winning actor was most recently seen on the big screen in 'London Has Fallen' and 'Now You See Me 2'. Freeman's other notable movies include The Dark Knight Rises, Lucy, Gone Baby Gone and Redm and will appear next in the 'Ben-Hur' remake as Ilderim.
'The Nutcracker' will be directed by Lasse Hallstrom from a script by Ashleigh Powell. The release date of The Nutcracker and the Four Realm has not yet been announced.
