The Australian Christian Lobby has warned of the Labor party's "big shift" on social policy in its newly released 'Election Guide' ahead of the July 2nd vote.
The guide details where the two major parties stand on hot button issues including the definition of marriage and the controversial Safe Schools program.
"Labor's position on marriage and family has sadly taken a big shift to the extreme left in the past 12 months," ACL's Managing Director Lyle Shelton said of the ALP leader's promise to redefine marriage within 100 days if elected.
Shelton also noted the implication that no protection or freedom of expression will be given to people who do not agree with same-sex marriage.
"This means people who supply services to the wedding industry could end up in court for living out their beliefs about marriage," he cautioned.
Despite previously expressing his support of gay marriage, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has pledged to hold a plebiscite on the issue.
"We have a very clear policy which is that every Australian will get a vote on the subject," the first Australian leader to ever attend the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade told reporters.
The ALP's support of children and teens to undergo sex change operations has also raised concerns.
"The so-called 'Safe Schools' program tells minors that they need not hold back from undergoing sex-change surgery if that is what they feel like at the time," the ACL stated.
"It fails to inform students of the ramifications a sex-change will have on their ability to have children.
"This Safe Schools material continues to go way beyond an anti-bullying program."
