This article is different, as I am leading a YWAM mission trip to India and will be back in Australia towards the end of January. This article is my musings on the Young Adults group in Fairfax, Virginia that I had the privilege of being a part of - I wrote this about a year ago.
To you: Dave and Meredith, Lilley and all those involved
In moments like these I remember my beginnings and think about the way things used to be. The joy that used to encapsulate my heart and the love that surrounded my thoughts as I drove into the parking lot. I remember the food, not just the taste, but the smell. That sweet aroma that gets the taste buds ready to consume whatever may be cooking in the oven.
I remember the voices coming from the kitchen, which I could easily pick out as I placed the voices to the names. I remember the feeling that swelled inside of me each time someone entered the room and into a conversation.
I knew each night would be different and yet the same. As we encountered a God who loves seeing His children congregate to lift His name high, eat, sing, pray and encourage one another.
This describes those wonderful nights of my young adult group which is so far away (geographically) and yet still so close to my heart. I want you guys to know that each one of you has effected my walk with the Lord because of your presence in my life.
The uniqueness and variety that each one of you have, coupled with the ability to come together and welcome and make each person feel honoured is incredible.
Thank you
Philippians chapter 4 verses 6-8:
"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
Maybe, this is what Paul was talking about. Think about the good times God has given you and always be thankful.
My challenge to myself and readers: let's be thankful more than we complain.
