All that is transpiring in the socio-cultural arena lately is perfectly normal for a pagan society. The fence-posts of Judeo-Christian morality have been pushed back to the point where the once Protestant European nations can no longer identify as Christian. We are now post Christian—and pagan in practise at that.
Just in recent headlines we see that in the USA, any man can now legally follow a young girl into a female restroom without question, and if one protests, it will be a hate crime. And in Germany, police have been arresting people for speaking their minds about Muslim immigration on social media.
Light-bringers
Christians shouldn't be surprised at these developments. Traditional values were jettisoned, through mostly democratic means (or at least broadly consent, with little resistance), so that's something we need to accept about our culture. We can't force people to comply with God's law, it must be freely chosen.
Christians should work on themselves as ambassadors and representatives in this topsy-turvy post-modern/mortem culture and not expect to perfect the world. Instead we should work on ourselves as light bringers—particularly as we face the great apostasy and the resulting moral free-fall.
Remember not everyone likes the light because it exposes their misdeeds. The enemy's best tactic is to keep the word of God, as a torch and beacon of light, away from the public where it can expose sin and convict people.
As soon as they remove free speech they will eventually remove the gospel.
Free-speech and civil liberty
At this point, in order to preserve free speech and other civil liberties, we need to collaborate with any likeminded groups, even ideological opponents if we agree on free expression, free-press etc.—in order to form a greater bulwark against this oppression.
If we fail, we need only to look as far as the Middle East to see how potentially absent Christianity can be in a nation, when violent powers seek to eradicate and suppress its presence and influence.
The recent self-righteous and intolerant breed of social justice warriors (SJWs), require absolute submission to their social agenda and dogmas, otherwise one suffers character assassinations, job loss, prosecution, ostracism, intimidation i.e. the wrath of the SJW inquisition.
SJWs have a lot in common with Islamists who also require absolute submission to their interpretation of Koranic law. Both seem to care little for democracy, representation, and minority rights, if it isn't for their favoured minority group.
All humans are entitled to voice their opinions. That is a fundamental part of being a human being: endowed with a free will to decide one way or another—by God, who elected to not restrict our choices, even when it causes us harm. And likewise we should respect the jurisdiction and autonomy other people possess over themselves, and not limit them.
Whenever I decide to restrict your ability to voice an opinion, I assume a control over your life that even God himself did not assume. But God limited his control over us, to provide us with self-autonomy and the ability to decide and think independently, even if it was to disagree with God's law and reject Him.
Which is why fascism of any creed is evil, excessive and unchristian, and is used by our adversary as his primary tactic to persecute the church and silence the gospel. This has been tried and tested for centuries.
