Jealousy lurks over Roberts Decision
We now live in a sporting landscape where the sand can shift by the hour, not by the season. NRL clubs must now adapt and be fluid in their ability to maximise opportunities.
It's no longer acceptable to be assessing you're playing list between seasons. A club that is mobile and flexible at any given moment will thrive and those that don't evolve will perish,
Only hours after Brisbane announced the prized signature of Gold Coast Titans star James Roberts, rival NRL fans began to question the validity of the Broncos 2016 ability to stay under the salary cap.
This was followed by various newspapers and media outlets fan the flame of disgruntled fans.
The Broncos were straight on the front foot reminding the rugby league community that there was a huge void in the 2016 cap following the departure of boom centre Justin Hodges along with high priced centre Dale Copley and boom rookie Jayden Nikorima, all bound for Bondi to join the Roosters machine.
Brisbane's return to a winning culture and the return of the "super Coach" Wayne Bennett clearly attracts more players than struggling Sydney clubs.
Their ability to attract corporate support for their players is also a driving force in their recruiting plans. Perhaps rather than throwing empty accusations at the Brisbane Broncos who merely seem to be maximising their potential of what appears to be one of the strongest brands in Australian sports today.
Perhaps fans of other clubs should be asking their CEO's why their club fails to have the same winning culture on and off the field.
They should be asking the Brisbane administration for lessons in all aspects of running a football club that succeeds both on the pitch and in the back office.
