All true patriots are preppers. At least that's what the movie AmeriGEDDON would have you believe.
As much as I wanted to love the conspiracy inspired film, where the UN plans to take down America and bring war and destruction comes to life, the director Mike Norris (son of Chuck Norris) disappointed on so many levels.
The heroes of the film try to reclaim the American dream, in face of the opposition of government and armed forces. But if this movie is what the hope of the American dream has come to, then it's a very sad day for America.
Bad decisions regarding Alex Jones
The screenplay was written by Gary Heavin and it was so bad that it was like it was inspired by Alex Jones' hour-long and sometimes illogical YouTube rants. In case you don't know who Alex Jones is, he's the famous conspiracy theorist who inspired the X-Files. He also inspired this movie as he's the one who has been harping on about the future EMP attack for years.
Alex Jones made a cameo in AmeriGEDDON, but not as himself. They made the choice to have some weird bearded guy play Alex Jones in the movie where Alex Jones himself played some other two-bit character who got only two lines of dialogue.
That aside, and the fact that there was very little character development, there was one big gaping hole left in the whole scope of the movie: the Divine aspect.
Guns and special effects can't save you
Glorifying the second amendment rights to bear arms, the film ignores God in favour for the blind luck which allows the 'true patriots' to defeat their Russian and Chinese enemies. Firepower and special effects are supposed to make up for the lack of true inspiring faith, even though Mike Norris was apparently trying to cater the movie toward Christians.
The concept itself is a likely scenario. An EMP might make way for the American invasion of foreign enemies, and the UN might really be working to take down the American superpower... but at the end of the day preppers can't save the world no matter how much they prep.
Besides, anyone who does the research knows that the American government keeps a list of preppers, and that list is being kept for a time of disaster where the resources the preppers have kept for themselves will be seized as government assets to be distributed in their FEMA camps.
Preppers VS God
The 'be a prepper, save yourself!' mentality doesn't really cut it. It comes down to faith in God VS trust in man. 'Cursed is the one who trusts in man' says Jeremiah chapter 17 verse 5. AmeriGEDDON would have you believe that if you have the money and the training you'll be able to fight the government's schemes to destroy the nation.
The only hope for America right now is not Donald Trump, nor is it the true American patriots. It can only be the Spirit-filled Christians engaged in spiritual warfare and intercession for the nation.
It is prayers that are holding back the judgement of God, and it is walking in Spirit and Truth that can protect us from the schemes of wickedness. God is moving, and as the days get darker God will move even more.
Death of the American Dream
I disagree with the premise Mike Norris tried to make us swallow with this movie. The American dream is dead. No prepping for the apocalypse can resuscitate it. No fighting TPTB (the powers that be) can save the day.
What will be, will be. War is inevitable. God bless America will eventually become God save America. The writing is already on the wall.
Frankly, the dismal hope offered by AmeriGEDDON is a pitiful consolation.
