If you were in South Africa right now, you would know by now that "Laduma" means, "Yay! We scored a goal!" We hope to be hearing this a lot over the next few weeks, as South Africa welcomes 32 nations from around the world (including Australia) for the soccer world cup. It is all very exciting, and there is a serious buzz in the air.
OM South Africa is hosting a five week outreach for over 100 people coming to South Africa from around the world. Participants will head out in teams to be a part of ministering to both local South Africans and visitors. Some exciting initiatives will include teams working against human trafficking and child prostitution (which are expected to be serious issues here for the next few weeks) and especially for the North Korean soccer team who are also attending the world cup.
We need your prayers! It is going to be a busy time, and there are so many opportunities to reach people.
Please pray:
- For the teams and tourists coming to South Africa, that they would be exposed to the gospel (particularly those from closed countries)
- For the OM outreach teams, that they would be effective in ministry, and unified in their teams
- For those teaching and presenting, that God would help us to know what to say, and for opportunities to encourage people for longer term involvement in missions.
- For our Bible Club, that kids would come to know Jesus
- For the safety of women and children during the world cup
