The journey that brought Gagan and Talika to this point had started when their daughter was afflicted with severe stomach pain. The pain Champa was suffering was unbearable, so her parents took her to a hospital, only to discover that doctors could not diagnose her condition. It was an unknown illness, the doctors informed them.
Ganga and Talika were very worried. Then they discovered the reason for their daughter's bizarre illness: She was being attacked by evil spirits.
The couple took her to witch doctors and priests for help, only to hear a sobering predictionâ€"Champa would soon die. Indeed, watching their daughter, they saw she was growing weaker each day. She suffered mysterious burns and pain all over her body, too.
Ganga and Talika were afraid and deeply concerned for their daughter.
It was at this time that God brought Bijoy Kapur, a Gospel for Asia-supported pastor, to the family's house. The couple told him all about their daughter's pitiful condition.
Bijoy listened and then told the desperate husband and wife about the eternal hope offered through Christ. He also told them of Christ's power to heal the sick.
Before Bijoy left, the couple asked him to pray for their ailing daughter. He gladly agreed and also asked the believers in his church to intercede for Champa's deliverance as well.
They prayed fervently, and an amazing thing took place: The Lord delivered and healed Champa! Having experienced God's healing touch, Champa was eager to discover more about Jesus. She began attending Bijoy's church. And soon, she trusted in Christ and gave testimony in the church of how the Lord had saved her. She continued attending Bijoy's church, growing in her new faith.
Witch doctors and priests had predicted Champa's death. Instead, she found new life in Christ.
GFA's local correspondent requests prayer that Champa will continue to grow in the Lord and that her parents, Ganga and Talika, will come to know Him, too.
