The center had only been open four months when the storm hit. The community built the center last winter and celebrated the building dedication December 13.
Renovation efforts started the day after the storm, and Bridge of Hope staff and parents worked hard to clean up the debris, which had scattered over a radius of more than half a mile.
"They are working in full swing in order to be able to resume classes as soon as possible," writes GFA's local correspondent.
While some materials can be reused and reassembled, most were either damaged beyond repair or could not be found. It is estimated it could take from one to two months for reconstruction to be completed so classes can resume.
Part of the roof of the church building was blown off during the storm and will be repaired soon.
The severe storm also claimed the life of a 5-year-old boy, damaged dozens of homes and knocked out power to a large swath of one north Indian state. GFA-supported missionaries in the area are already reaching out to those in need.
GFA leaders request prayer for all those affected by the storm and for the timely repair of the Bridge of Hope center so classes can resume for the children.
