Their living conditions are sad; they don't have even the most basic amenities as everyone else. Yet, as wretched as these circumstances are, Jaidev, a Gospel for Asia-supported pastor, sees hope in their faces.
That's because these fishermen now believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. They yearn to hear God's Word and attend weekly worship services with their families.
In the winter months, when fish are hard to come by and the cold can be devastating, the church provided these men and women with clothing to keep them warm.
"Some of them cried," reported a GFA field correspondent. "Warm clothes were one of the most precious gifts anyone could ever give them."
Jaidev leads a congregation made up of about 30 families. As he continues to minister to the fishermen in his village, he prays more people will come to know the love and grace of their Savior. They also ask for prayer that the Lord will provide for their needs and help their fishing businesses prosper.
Pastor Jaidev specifically requests prayer that the Lord will help these families be able to send their children to a good school.
