A digital device, small enough to fit into your pocket, is being made available to the public by two Christian ministries where it can store up to 160 hours of recorded Scripture.
The Audio Scripture Ministries, in partnership with MegaVoice, allows users; depending on the purpose, to either record the Jesus Film or the God Story. If they don't wish to record then they can store four to five complete New Testaments chapters.
Users can either use earphones or speakers to listen, again depending on their situation. Tom Dudenhofer from the Audio Scripture Ministries said the earphones could prove essential when it was risky to have the audio played out loud in public spaces.
"Doing something like this out in the open could be risky to the individual and this way the person who's listening to God's word on the Ambassador player could just have this ear piece in their ear, the player itself could just be tucked away in their pocket and because playback devices like this are so popular around the world, hardly anybody would give it a second thought," said Dudenhofer.
Right now, Dudenhofer says ASM is translating "over 70 African languages, we're also assisting in processing languages all over the world for which there's already a backlog of requests, trying to break them down in the proper files so they can be used in digital players."
