
|PIC1|Dr Tamubolon is rector of the 8000-student university in Medan . He is motivated by his conviction that the love of Christ, demonstrated in practical actions, is how individuals and communities are healed, transformed and empowered. He and other Lutheran leaders in northern Sumatra are working cooperatively with Indonesia 's Islamic government to promote inter-religious harmony. Their achievements are worth studying by leaders of educational and other institutions in every place in which bridge-building between religious or racial groups is a priority in promoting community health and healing.
Dr Tamubolon will be presenting at the Australian Conference on Lutheran Education (ACLE) to be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from 1 to 3 October.
Also at ACLE, Bethlehem pastor and peace-prize winner, Rev Dr Mitri Raheb, will outline the global literacies young people need in order to contribute in a multi-cultural and multi-faith global community. Dr Raheb is the winner of two peace prizes and is Palestine 's most published theologian.
Mr Paul Omot, National Education Secretary of the 800,000-member-strong Lutheran Church in Papua New Guinea , will discuss the challenges and opportunities presented through the 200 Lutheran schools under his oversight.
