Steve Bazal visited Well-Being Australian chairman Mark Tronson two months ago to consult with SIM's introduction of their international sports ministry program for local church outreach, Sports Friends.
While visiting him in Tweed Heads, M V Tronson took Steve Bazal to his art ministry exhibition at the Horizons Gallery at the South Tweed Sports Club.
Steve Bazal was provided a philosophical explanation of each of the 22 art works on display by Mark Tronson for his reflection, whereupon he spent forty five minutes alone with the art.
As a result of that reflection, Steve Bazal expressed a very great interest in the art work titled 'Football' for his office, however at a value of $750 it was a little too much as a faith financed missionary.
Mark Tronson gave this some thought, as he too is in the same situation, as he and his wife Delma have been faith financed missionaries for 28 years. He put out feelers to his support network to raise the money to purchase the art work as a donation to Well-Being Australia, and the Art Ministry could then donate the art work 'Football' to Steve Bazal SIM Sports Friends.
Over a period of several weeks monies came in and by the time M V Tronson was next in Brisbane (last week, 16 June), he arranged for Steve Bazal to meet with him in order to hand over this art work 'Football'.
The sport of soccer (Football) is one of the key ingredient sport codes that the SIM Sport Friends employ in their ministry. Sports Friends is about having fun, and it functions as an outreach very well in the third world where many teenagers do not have the funds to play in Association football competitions.
SIM Sports Friends fill a very needy role in this area for young people with very little to do. Steve Bazal's task in introducing SIM Sports Friends into Australian churches, is to find a way to translate the methodology into a first world suburban scenario.
