The riders helped to raise approximately $70,000 for various charities as part of the annual "Bike for Bibles" event, from the Indian Ocean, across the Nullarbor to the Tasman Sea on the East Coast. It was the 25th anniversary of the event, which commenced with a ride from Sydney to Melbourne in 1984. They also raised money and awareness of the Jesus. All about life campaign, the largest media campaign ever from the Christian Church in NSW.
The cyclists and their support vehicles gathered at Cottesloe Beach, Western Australia where they dipped their toes in the Indian Ocean- before they left for the Pacific and paddled in the Tasman Sea, at Elouera Beach to mark the end of their amazing journey.
The first to step foot in the ocean was Richard Jardine of St Thomas' Burwood Anglican Church, Victoria.
The ride passed through such areas as Ceduna, Streaky Bay, Port Augusta, Burra, Mildura, Young, Yass and Goulburn. The riders stayed with locals along the way, while local churches, organised BBQs and events as the riders came through their town.
