
Currently, negotiation is proceeding with the Interior Ministry, but the attorney, representing the Christians, said they were doing tremendous work for the country.
"We are talking about people who do extraordinary work for the State of Israel," Yuval Yerushalmi, an Israeli attorney, told the Jerusalem Post.
"[Yet] it is very difficult to extend a visa for people who have been working in Israel more than five years."
Israel holds a special place for some evangelical Christians given this was the birthplace of Jesus Christ and some see it as a divine requirement to protect Jerusalem from being divided into two parts.
"The sanctity of Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish State is something very sacred which has both historical and religious associations for the Jewish people going back thousands of years," the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem director, Rev. Malcom Heading, told Israel Today. "We view any attempt to divide the city as a tragic wedge that is unacceptable."
However, there are some who disagree. Recently, 80 Christian leaders from evangelical Christian ministries and churches have signed a statement indicating support for a 'fair, two-state' solution to the Israeli-Palestinian problem.
Currently, the US government is putting all its full diplomatic effort towards finding peace between the two warring party, Israel and the Palestinian.
