2010 celebrates the 20th issue of the Retired Australian Cricketers Bi-Annual Newsletter, a ministry covering 10 years with two issues of this newsletter each year. This bi-annual newsletter is dated 30 March and the 30 November respectively.
A quote from the 30 March 2010 issue of this Retired Australian Cricketers Bi-Annual Newsletter provides the details of its establishment.
"This is the 10th year of this newsletter. It was initiated when Australian Cricket Team Chaplain Dr Mark Tronson retired after 17 years and moved sideways to Life After Cricket at the end of 2000. He had previously discussed such an idea with the then Victorian Cricket Team chaplain the Reverend Barrie Sutton and the abovementioned editorial persons, the Austrailan Cricket Board's Malcolm Speed and the Australian Cricket Association's Tim May. Each State came on board, courteously forwarding this newsletter to retired Australian cricketers and others."
The Editorial Team has remained unchanged: Allan Border (Qld), Phil Emery (NSW), Jason Bakker, Shaun Graf (CVIC), David Boon (TAS), Greg Chappell (SA), Kim Hughes (WA).
M V Tronson, the Chaplain, writes the Chaplain's Chat for each issue, he collates the newsletter and distributes it each of the State Cricket Associations.
In his 17 years as the Australian Cricket team chaplain he travelled extensively and met many of the past Cricketing heroes and in so doing established a rapport so that when the Retired Australian Cricketers Bi-Annual Newsletter came along, they knew Mark Tronson and his chaplaincy role.
In addition in his Respite Ministry to the AIS Sports Units in SE Qld which includes the AIS Cricket Unit, that when visiting the Cricket Unit, he catches up with those retired cricketers who are on site giving specialised coaching sessions.
This past 10 years has provided considerable contact with numerous former Australian cricketers in this Life After Cricket ministry. He's enjoyed one to one ministry which has complimented his previous 17 years as the Australian XI chaplain.
M V Tronson has also utilised senior cricket people as sounding boards and has rung them to seek wise counsel and advice for his cricket ministry. This has also involved his new Australian Missionary News IPTV video interview ministry.
In this type of article, it is not appropriate to speak about personal details regarding conversations with retired cricketers, what can be said is that this ongoing pastoral ministry continues. One of its hallmarks is that the Life After Cricket ministry has been independent from both cricket officials and the players association. This has received good-will by all parties and its been one of the special features of its ministry.
