Bruce Johnson, the interim president of Asian Access, believes the great commission set out by Jesus Christ is the key factor in explaining why there are so many Asian missionaries being sent out within their own region.
Mr. Johnson felt encourage by this trend and described the three Asian countries, Myanmar, China, and South Korea, as possessing the 'sending' spirit in proclaiming the Gospel.
"Myanmar is sending missionaries to Japan. China and South Korea are sending missionaries to other parts of Asia," he told Mission Network News (MNN). "They have a 'sending' spirit to see the Gospel go forward," said Johnson.
Despite the conversion law in some countries, Mr. Johnson continued, opposition to the spreading of the Gospel is nothing new and though the authorities might persecute the missionary but it was not a major threat.
"In Asia there are people coming to your home and threatening you, to dragging you out into the street and beating you, to authorities coming and questioning you," he said.
"There's a broad variety, but I would say, generally, persecution is not a major threat to the Gospel going forward."
Asian Access is an interdenominational evangelical organization that works throughout Asia to identify, develop and release leaders who serve as pastors of growing and reproducing churches.
