China's gadget manufacturer, Xiaomi, has been coming in as tough competition for all other companies in the smartphone industry, and now Xiaomi is all set to roll out its Laptop Mi Notebook Air across the globe.
What makes the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air an extraordinary device, is that it features the Nvidia GeForce 940MX, which makes it an incredible device for gaming too.
Some other specifications include an 8GB of RAM and 256GB solid state drive (SSD), and if the users need additional space the maker has offered an extra SATA slot to enhance storage by up to 256GB. Apart from that, the device has Intel Core i5-6200U, up to 2.7GHz; 13.3-inch display with full-HD (1,920x1,080-pixels), Type-C USB for charging, along with 2x USB 3.0, 1x HDMI, and 3.5mm audio port. The device has a 40Wh battery that can run for 9.5 hours.
Xiaomi has also declared that the device will be able in a 12.5-inch variant, which is a little thinner and lighter. However, the 12.5-inch will not have discrete graphics and have just a 128GB SSD with a 4GB RAM powered by an Intel Core-M processor.
While unveiling the 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air in Beijing, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the device is designed to fill a niche.
In the same range, the parallel ultraportables like the Razer Blade Stealth laptop, lack a diverse graphics cards and completely relies on integrated graphics by Intel, which signifies that such laptops have limited gaming capabilities. On the other hand, Xiaomi claims that users can play games at a full-HD resolution such as Dota 2 at 85 frames/sec on Notebook Air.
If the look of Mi Notebook Air is considered, it is clad in aluminium; however, it lacks any logos on exterior body. The device has a very sleek and clean look. The logo is only visible when the user opens up the laptop.
Xiaomi is retailing the Mi Notebook Air under its brand; though, the laptop device is in reality manufactured by a partner known as Tian Mi.
The sale of Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air started in China on August 2 at a retail price of about $750, £570 and AU$1,000 for the 13.3-inch variant while 12.5-inch version will be available for about $525, £400 and AU$725. However, in other parts of the globe the device is yet to roll out.
