
Chelsea finally got back to winning ways in the league with Torres getting back on the scoresheet with a brace in there 3-1 away win at Sunderland. Sunderland hit the bar late on however Chelsea were worthy winners to give Benitez some breathing space. Liverpool also had an important win, coming from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 in London.
In Saturday's other fixtures, Villa and Stoke had a scoreless draw whilst Southampton beat fellow strugglers Reading 1-0 at home in a 6 pointer. Arsenal had a much needed win, scoring twice from the spot in a 2-0 win over West Brom. Norwich scored 4, winning 4-3 over Swansea in Wales whilst Wigan and QPR shared the points with a 2-2 draw.
Monday night Newcastle travelled to Fulham as there form continued to slide with Fulham coming out 2-1 winners in London. Sunday's clash for 4th place saw Everton come from behind late on to beat Spurs 2-1 at home.
