Van Persie Sinks City in Derby Delight!

Manchester United opened up a 6 point gap at the top of the Premier league with a dramatic late winner to sink City 3-2 in injury time. Rooney was as always, unstoppable, scoring 2 early goals to give United a shock 2-0 lead at half time. Although City dominated much of the match, they struggled to break down united and it took substitute Tevez to come on to inspire City as they mounted a comeback. City eventually equalised and looked like going on to win the match until Van Persie struck a deflected free kick into the corner of the net. The match ended City's 2 year unbeaten run at home and gave United the chance to open up a big gap early in the season.

Chelsea finally got back to winning ways in the league with Torres getting back on the scoresheet with a brace in there 3-1 away win at Sunderland. Sunderland hit the bar late on however Chelsea were worthy winners to give Benitez some breathing space. Liverpool also had an important win, coming from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 in London.

In Saturday's other fixtures, Villa and Stoke had a scoreless draw whilst Southampton beat fellow strugglers Reading 1-0 at home in a 6 pointer. Arsenal had a much needed win, scoring twice from the spot in a 2-0 win over West Brom. Norwich scored 4, winning 4-3 over Swansea in Wales whilst Wigan and QPR shared the points with a 2-2 draw.

Monday night Newcastle travelled to Fulham as there form continued to slide with Fulham coming out 2-1 winners in London. Sunday's clash for 4th place saw Everton come from behind late on to beat Spurs 2-1 at home.
