
Manchester City faced a tricky trip to Wales to face Swansea just a few hours earlier and endured a tough 90 minutes. They did have numerous chances though but it was Swansea to score the only goal of the match to leave United 1 point clear at the end of the day. In other weekend fixtures Aston Villa had a much need win over Fulham 1-0, Sunderland were too strong for Liverpool with a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light whilst Norwich and Wigan played out a 1-1 draw. Everton upset Spurs with a 1-0 home win and Arsenal downed a defiant Newcastle 2-1 at the Emirates. In the two relegation 6 pointers, Bolton beat QPR 2-1 late on while Blackburn went 3 points clear of the drop zone with an impressive 2-0 win away at fellow strugglers Wolves.
