Manchester City went to the summit of the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 win at home to Fulham. City are now 2 points clear of United at the top with 14 games still to go and some big fixtures just around the corner. With both teams out of the champion's league and FA cup, the league becomes by far the biggest priority as both teams battle it out to lift the Championship.
Saturday's fixtures included Norwich winning a crunch fixture 2-0 over Bolton. Sunderland won away 1-0 at Stoke City while Wigan and Everton played out a 1-1 draw. Swansea won the battle of the promoted sides 2-1 away in the midlands whilst Wolves beat fellow strugglers QPR 2-1 in London.
Arsenal were in a determined mood on Saturdays midday as they brushed aside a poor Blackburn 7-1. Van Persie was in irresistible form as he continued his great form with more goals. The win keeps Arsenal in with a chance of 4th place with the run in about to heat up.
Sundays other fixture saw Newcastle defeat Aston Villa 2-1.
