Chelsea had a difficult trip to Stoke City and was frustrated for most of the match. Some great defending from Woodgate and Co. left Chelsea only leaving with a point as the scoreless draw didn't impress the travelling support. Chelsea even brought on Anelka and Drogba to try to claim the win however will now look to next week to get on the winning track.
Manchester City started their season with a convincing 4-0 drubbing of new boys Swansea in Manchester. City started and finished well in a truly impressive display to send a message out to the rest of the league that they are going to be difficult to beat this time round. Liverpool struggled however and only managed a 1-1 draw with a well drilled Sunderland. Both teams had chances and a draw was probably a fair result.
In other matches, Bolton gave QPR a thumping as Rangers entered back to the premier league for the first time in 15 years. Bolton scored 4 and was impressive over the full 90 minutes. Fulham hosted Villa as both teams struggled in a scoreless draw. Wolves won away at Blackburn to give them a precious 3 points whilst Wigan and Norwich shared the spoils in Wigan.
