United end City's dream in dramatic derby!

Manchester United have beaten Manchester City in a sensational encounter at Etihad Stadium in Manchester. After both teams were drawn together for the 3rd round and both teams already exiting Europe, this was a must win game for both teams and the cracking fixture didn't disappoint. To add to the excitement, Paul Scholes was announced just before kick off on the bench to come out of retirement, this gave even more feeling to the already heated affair. United got off to a blistering start with a sensational header to give United the lead, shortly after City's captain Company was sent off in Dramatic circumstances as it looked as if he had won the ball, Wellbeck soon added a second before Rooney piled on the misery with a 3rd from the spot. City came out in the second half a different team and started brightly. They clawed their way back after a bad mistake from Scholes to be unlucky to eventually loose 3-2.

In other matches Chelsea swepped aside Portsmouth with a convincing 4-0 home win. Sunderland defeated Peterborough 2-0 away while Sheffield Wednesday won 1-0 home to West Ham United. Aston Villa won 3-1 away at Bristol Rovers, Everton defeated lowly Tamworth 2-0 at home whilst Fulham disposed of Charlton 4-0 in a London derby. Newcastle defeated Blackburn 2-1 in an all premiership affair and Wigan suffered a giant killing, loosing 2-1 away at Swindon.

The 4th round brings Manchester United and Liverpool together. Manchester United will have to do it the tough way if they are to go all the way after an extremely tough early draw to their campaign.
