Manchester City joined Manchester United on top of the table with a comfortable 2-0 win over Everton. Although City should have scored many more, Everton also had some early chances, however City were too strong with Milner finishing the scoring.
Manchester United missed to chance to stay outright leaders with a 1-1 draw with Stoke City away. United took the lead with Nani scoring a fantastic drive, only for Crouch to cancel it out with his first strike for Stoke.
Arsenal and Liverpool also both recorded must wins with Arsenal thumping Bolton 3-0 after Wheater was sent for Bolton and Liverpool just getting past Wolves 2-1 as Gerrard made his first appearance of the season. Both teams were under pressure after poor results and performances and scored must wins to keep them in the title race.
