When I was younger I had fears of becoming a crazy cat lady or an old maid but as I grow older in maturity, age and in God, I've found I don't need to worry about what the future will bring.
With the ongoing increase in divorce rates, more than half of my childhood friends now come from split families. As teenagers, we know barely anything about what committed relationships and what we do know is really what comes from the example of our parents. But when you're parents are separated, divorced and can't stand to be in the same room as one another, what does one do?
People are always trying to conjure reasons up for what the cause of divorce is and in reality, we live in a forever changing world with people that are always changing what they want and deciding alone what they need to make themselves happy.
Marriage is a frightening and beautiful thing all at the same time. It's the most powerful commitment you could ever make and it scares me because when I get married one day, I want it to be for life. The most beautiful of things in life is growing old with someone and I don't want to have to go through several marriages before I find the 'right' person.
God says in Psalms 37 verse 4 that if we seek the Lord first, he will give you the desires of your heart. This I think is an even greater promise. If I put all my trust in God, I will find he will give me the right person at the right time in my life. This may mean months, years or even a decade away but I find peace in knowing that God has made a plan for my life and it's up to me to do as God asks for it all fall into place.
Every girl wishes for her prince charming and I believe that every girl should wait for him too. Lamentations 3 verse 25 reads, 'The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait and seek him' and from this has derived the well known proverb, 'Good things come from those who wait.'
Patience I believe is one of the best virtues to hold and also the hardest to action. When we want something because we're all consumers at heart, we want it then and there or as soon as possible. But usually if we wait for something, the satisfaction of getting it is a lot more.
The most important of these is to leave all your worries to God. If we dealt with all of our problems by ourselves we would become swallowed in them. In Isaiah 41 verse 13 it says, 'For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear, I am here to help you.'
I know I'm not the wisest or have the most life experience but I believe if you trust in God completely, the deepest desires of your heart will be fulfilled and that one day, I too will find my prince charming.
