I find it baffling that during the biggest week of the NFL, where each year the media stops to reflect the season that was; no one has mentioned the lockout that threatened the very fabric of the sport.
Fans have every right to feel shorthanded; the billion dollar game doesn't pull its value out of thin air. It takes millions of fans to pull out their wallet and lend their support, which creates the value in the game. If the fans stopped watching the game it would cease to exist at an alarming pace. The million dollar commercials, during the Super Bowl are a true reflection on the value of fans supporting the game.
During the fighting of the CBA, where were the voices of the fans heard? The players were heard, the NFL Commissioner was heard, and the owners were certainly heard. But who gave voice to the people? It surely wasn't the media.
The hard and fast truth is no one heard; the NFL forgot the people that matter, plain and simple.
The NFL might be hyped about the "old foes" coming to battle in a very thrilling Super Bowl game, and they might be abuzz about the way Tim Tebow took the game to a worldwide audience. They probably love all the great personal comeback stories of players that highlighted the integrity of some NFL programs. They might even go as far as to declare this season as great.
By the time you read this article the hype from the game will be wearing down and either Tom Brady or Eli Manning will have cemented their legacy as Hall of Fame Quarter backs.
However there is another group of people sitting in silence around the world, there called the "Fans" who are hurting, there hurting from the way they have been taken for granted.
Roger Goodall (NFL commissioner), the greatest way to start a reconciliation with your millions of fans might be an, apology. I wait with baited breath.
