Ghost Town Games's co-operative cooking game, 'Overcooked', launched on Wednesday on platforms including Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
The game has cute designs and encourages teamwork among 1-4 players. The game has turned out to be surprisingly fun and slightly addictive. The principle goal of 'Overcooked' is very straightforward, work either as a team or against each other in a fierce competition.
In the frantic multiplayer kitchen game, players need to gather, slice and bring together the ingredients to make particular eatable items and send the dishes to customers. The game is designed in such a way that it insists gamers to chat and work in-coordination in a local co-op play.
In an interview with Rock Papper Shotgun, Overcooked's co-founder Phil Duncan dished out some tips and tricks for better co-op cooking:
Overcooked is a co-operative game, so it does not matter how good a single player is, it is all about teamwork, Duncan explains. In the game, players need to work together toward to a common goal as a timer is ticking down, so work as a team and divide different tasks.
Also, to manage the frequency of food orders in a limited time, ask co-players to perform the task.
For instance, when players are assigned to grab an onion, chop it and then take the chopped onions back to the pot; simply pass the onion to a friend and have them chop it, instead of walking all the way round on their own to make the task faster.
When preparing various food items, if the players have been asked to make a burger, then many of them try to stuff it with extra patties, lettuce and unchopped tomatoes. Therefore, the developers have added restrictions in the gameplay to guide the players and let focus more on co-operating fun to overcome the difficulty.
The co-founder also mentioned that nowadays everyone has been going online to play with other players, but the ultimate goal of Overcooked is to make local players play together in front of a single screen, not fighting against each other but making a product together.
The game, Overcooked is available now on Steam.
