
The battle between the two heavy weights is being reported and commented on daily by news reporters across the globe.
Some articles favour the owners and some articles lean towards pushing for the players to take a higher percentage of the games income. Both have legitimate arguments positive and negative.
For me the key ingredient to this fiasco is who is missing out? And that is obvious.
To understand who the loser of the lockout is, you have to ask yourself first? Where does the revenue for the game come from?
The NFL like most professional sports these days are funded by consumers of product. And in this case the product is the NFL and the consumers are generally called "fans".
The buy the merchandise and season tickets, they purchase the products advertised during the games. They sustain the network TV deals by tuning in each week.
I struggle to find any reason that can justify the fans missing out on the game they pay for as consumers, while a bunch of "big wigs" argue over the millions of dollars of consumers money.
At the very least there should be a seat at this table for someone to represent the fans. If the fans around the U.S rallied together and formed an allegiance or union, they could possibly become the most powerful entity in professional sports.
Who knows, maybe its pie in the sky stuff, but wouldn't it be great to see a game where the fans run the game?
