The two teams that they disposed off are probably a year or two from winning a championship. Derek Rose and Kevin Durant will definitely wearing a ring soon.
The old foes the LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics have begun to show their age and might take a few years of redevelopment before they reignite the greatest rivalry in basketball.
Now it comes down to two groups of people, the loyal long term Miami Heat fans, and those that Lebron James. I'm going to speculate that the second group, have a few more million in it than the first.
Legacies are not created during the season, not even in the first three rounds of the playoffs. It comes down to the final seven game series for the championship rings. Lebron James is no doubt the greatest athlete to ever play basketball, but he has no legacy, nothing he has achieved in the sport is yet to leave a legacy. However a championship may just change all of that.
In the other side of the ring is Dirk Nowitzki, the greatest seven foot shooter the game has ever seen, Dirk and the Mav's will be looking for revenge from the 2006 finals series where Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O'Neill handed them a lesson in fundamental basketball.
Although it may not be the teams we imagined in this year's final's there's so many side stories involved in these two franchises it's going to be a great privilege to watch this history unveil itself, sit back and enjoy!
