West Ham United faced their worst fears as they are the first team to be relegated from the League after suffering late heart ache against Wigan. In a must win for both teams, Wigan went behind early before staging a late fight back to give themselves every chance of avoiding the drop. 2 more teams will join West Ham in the Championship next season as they face a mass exodus in the summer.
Blackpool and Bolton played an end to end thriller in Blackpool that ended 4-3 to the tangerines. Blackpool new only a win would do and gave their supporters every hope in the world of getting out of the bottom three. However with other results going against them, they must get a result at Old Trafford next week which will be difficult.
Wolves also won away at Sunderland to keep their faint hopes alive as Birmingham lost at home to Fulham to leave them is serious trouble. In other matches Chelsea and Newcastle finished 2-2 whilst Villa surprised Arsenal winning 2-1 away. West Brom continued their impressive form winning 2-1 at home to Everton and Spurs ended Liverpool's run for 5th position winning 2-0 at Anfield.
