Rowing for New Zealand, they won their country's first gold medal at both the 2004 (Athens) and 2008 (Beijing) Olympics. In 2004 they were awarded the first Olympic medal for Woman's Double Scull. In 2008, after their back-to-back double sculls victory, they became the first pair to defend such a double scull title.
Not only were they incredibly successful at the Olympics, these sisters proved themselves highly capable and worthy in the World Championships.
They won not only three gold medals, but also three silvers and a bronze in the double sculls. The International Rowing Federation crowned Georgina and Caroline 'Rowing Female Crew of the Year' in 2003 and again in 2005 - a clear indication that they are one of the world's finest double skulls rowers.
In response to their exceptional contribution to an Olympic sport, the New Zealand Olympic Committee presented the Evers-Swindell sisters with the Lonsdale Cup in December 2003 and again in 2008.
After a fulfilling career as rowers, the sisters retired after the 2008 Olympics. They are now ambassadors for Osteoporosis New Zealand, promoting an active lifestyle and good nutrition and through fundraising, support the building of its Endowment Trust.
