United already new City had won but still kept the pressure on City as they rushed aside Swansea with 2 goals. United now have to hope for a QPR result as they travel to Sunderland on the final day of the season.
Relegation was the other topic of the day as all clubs were in action this weekend. Aston Villa are now all but safe with a 1-1 draw with Champions league hopefuls Spurs. Spurs are now all but out of the running after needing all 3 points. Wigan are safe after relegating Blackburn with a late strike to win 1-0 while Bolton drew 2-2 with West Brom to need all 3 points on the final day away at Stoke to have any chance of surviving the drop.
The weekends other fixtures saw Arsenal and Norwich play out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Emirates while Fulham defeated Sunderland 2-1 to move to an impressive 8th on the table and be ahead of Liverpool. Everton and Wolves played out a scoreless draw in the Midlands as Everton continued to look strong as the season draws to a close. All eyes now turn to Manchester as the final day of the season draws near as Manchester City aim to break their 44 year drought.
