City Almost Champions!!!

Manchester City have taken the step to take them 90 minutes away from being crowned Champions of England for the first time in over 40 years. City faced a difficult trip as they travelled to Newcastle who also needed all 3 points as they pushed for a 3rd place finish to take them to the Champions League. The game was fast paced as both teams had chances however the pressure eventually told as City scored 2 late goals to take them to a home fixture against relegation threatened QPR next week in the decider.

Manchester United stayed in touch with Manchester City with a convincing 2-0 win over Swansea at Old Trafford. United already new City had won but still kept the pressure on City as they rushed aside Swansea with 2 goals. United now have to hope for a QPR result as they travel to Sunderland on the final day of the season.

Relegation was the other topic of the day as all clubs were in action this weekend. Aston Villa are now all but safe with a 1-1 draw with Champions league hopefuls Spurs. Spurs are now all but out of the running after needing all 3 points. Wigan are safe after relegating Blackburn with a late strike to win 1-0 while Bolton drew 2-2 with West Brom to need all 3 points on the final day away at Stoke to have any chance of surviving the drop.

The weekends other fixtures saw Arsenal and Norwich play out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Emirates while Fulham defeated Sunderland 2-1 to move to an impressive 8th on the table and be ahead of Liverpool. Everton and Wolves played out a scoreless draw in the Midlands as Everton continued to look strong as the season draws to a close. All eyes now turn to Manchester as the final day of the season draws near as Manchester City aim to break their 44 year drought.
