The match started with Bayern Munich taking all the running, and creating chance after chance. Robben, playing against his former club, couldn't buy a goal as he weaved his way through the brilliant Chelsea defence but just couldn't penetrate the Chelsea goal.
Chelsea defended extremely well and it took until the 83rd minute when Muller finished a fantastic move with a header to go 1-0 up and put 1 hand on the trophy. Bayern then took Muller off in an attempt to shut out the match however Chelsea had other ideals. Drogba stood up in the 88th minute to level the match with a fantastic header direct from a corner. This was much of a surprise as Chelsea didn't look threatening at all until they went behind.
So into extra time where more controversy as Drogba defending, caught the back of Ribery's foot to give away a penalty. The devastated striker could barely watch as Robben took the ball and looked certain to score the winner past his old team mates however Chech had other ideas. The big Chech keeper guessed correctly and pulled off a fantastic save to keep Chelseas chances alive. The 2nd period of extra time saw Munich still the hungrier of the teams however they couldn't convert their chances therefore Penalties were the order of the day.
Chelsea got off to a terrible start with a bad miss early however as the rest of the penalties went in, Chech stood up and saved penalties 4 and 5 to give Drogba the chance to win the Champions League with 1 spot kick. The Ivorian didn't think twice and placed the ball in the bottom right of the goal to give Chelsea the cup they have been craving for so long.
