Popular gardening game Viridi, which launched on desktop last year, has just been released on iOS and Android.
The gameplay is very simple and brings back elements of the Tamagotchi. You pick a pot, plant some seedlings into it, and check it every now and then. You also need to water and weed them while enjoying the ambient soundtrack.
There are no complex goals to be achieved in the game, asides from keeping your plants alive until they bloom. The game is free to download and you get a pot and a pot's worth of seedling. In order to get a more interesting succulents you need to pay $0.99 for between three and 10 seedlings.
"This free-to-play mode was the end-point of much thought and consideration. It originally planned for new seedlings to be unlocked by simply playing the game," said the Developer of Ice Water Games. "This meant paying attention to and nurturing your plants wasn't the goal, but a hurdle the user had to get through."
