"With kisses you want to make sure that they feel authentic," the 22 year old said in an interview with MTV, alongside co-star of the trilogy, Theo James.
"In this movie it was actually one of the hardest scenes to film. In the book it's such an important scene and it's so beautifully written...we wanted there to be a lot of truth to it."
Woodley is nominated for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards for The Spectacular Now, starring with Miles Teller.
Divergent opens in cinemas across Australia on April 10.
The movie also stars Kate Winslet and Maggie Q.
